Set on a 140-acre campus in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, the Clark Art Institute is both an art museum and center for research and learning in the visual arts. The Clark's permanent collection includes painting, sculpture, silver, glass, and other decorative arts ranging from the 1400s through the early 1900s. The Clark hosts a year-round series of special exhibitions covering a wide range of topics, genres, and artists. The Clark houses one of the nation's largest art history libraries, which is open to the public Monday through Friday. Its Research and Academic Program draws scholars, researchers, and curators from around the globe for fellowships, conferences, colloquia, and lectures.

Someone said that part of the main museum contains rooms where the Clarks actually lived. I did not see that. Is this accurate?
A:
I have not ever seen that. There is no space set up as living quarters.

Nearby Williamstown has wonderful places to eat, including at the Clark. North Adams is becoming a hot destination. Read article about the Berkshires in April 13, 2018 NY Times.

We always stay at Maple Terrace. Continental breakfast (juice, coffee/tea, blueberry (or other) breakfast bread. Price is great, it's right on Main Street, proprietors are lovely, small amount to eat but we save appetite for lunch elsewhere.
Q:
We have tickets for a show on Saturday night at Clark. What is the dress code and what is parking like?
A:
The safest dress would be smart casual. Parking is plentiful. If you have to go to the far parking lot, there is a shuttle bus to take you down to the theater.
