Acklin’s contract was expiring. He’s 48 and in his seventh year with the Penguins. He wanted a lighter schedule for an improved work-life balance. His departure clears the way for FSG to find a business executive without ties to previous ownership.

There will be an opening in the Pittsburgh Penguins front office, as long-time employee Kevin Acklin will step down as President of Business Operations at the end of the season. The Harvard University graduate joined the organization as Senior Vice President and General Counsel in November 2018.

After seven seasons with the Penguins, Kevin Acklin has resigned as the team’s president of business operations. KDKA’s Marty Griffin reports Acklin will remain with the Penguins as an advisor until the end of the year.
