Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has agreed to buy a 49 percent stake in Hundred franchise Trent Rockets, becoming the latest foreign investor in the 100-ball-a-side cricket competition.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has agreed to buy a 49% share in Hundred franchise Trent Rockets. Cain International, founded by American Boehly and British businessman Jonathan Goldstein, will pay just under £40m for the stake in the Rockets, valuing the entire franchise at £79m.

Boehly’s latest acquisition builds on his already vast sporting portfolio, which includes Chelsea FC, French club RC Strasbourg, and the LA Dodgers baseball team

Cain have paid just under £40million for the stake in the team, valued at around £79million, with Boehly and Goldstein having been stymied in their attempts to purchase a stake in the London Spirit franchise during the Hundred auction.

Besides Chelsea and Kolkata Knight Riders, Indian investor Amit Jain, working in conjunction with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, was also bidding to acquire a 49 per cent stake in the Nottingham-based Trent Rockets.

Todd Boehly, the chairman and co-owner of Chelsea, has bought a 49 per cent stake in The Hundred franchise Trent Rockets. The investment values Nottingham-based Rockets — which encompass the English county clubs of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire — at around £79million ($97.73m).
