The initial proposal for the next-gen Camaro has been canned by management, but on the bright side, a GM insider claims that the project is not dead

Chevrolet’s pony car has taken a sabbatical before, most notably between the fourth generation’s departure in 2002 and the introduction of the fifth-gen car in 2010. According to the GM Authority report, this not-so-green light for the Camaro stems from its potential profitability—or lack thereof.

The new Dodge Charger Daytona shows that an electric muscle car can be exciting. It’s available with up to 670 horsepower and accelerates to 60 miles per hour in just 3.3 seconds. For comparison, the Camaro ZL1, before the vehicle’s retirement, had 650 hp and reached 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
