Manager Mark Kotsay helped the Athletics navigate a difficult three seasons while the franchise lost a lot of games, built a young roster and dealt with an emotional departure from Oakland. Now he gets the chance to lead during potentially happier times.

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay signed an extension with the franchise through the 2028 season, the team announced on Monday. The new deal for Kotsay includes a club option for the '29 season.

It was clear that even in the toughest of seasons, which we've had, being able to see how Mark handled it,” A’s owner John Fisher said.
