Equity benchmark indices extended their losing streak for the fourth consecutive session on Monday, as fresh concerns over US tariff policies weighed on investor sentiment. The BSE Sensex dropped 671.

The BSE Sensex stood at 77,635.30, down 224.89 points or 0.29 per cent. Nifty stood at 23,495.35, down 64.60 points or 0.27 per cent.

The BSE Sensex lost over 600 points, while the NSE Nifty dropped close to 200 points in early trade. The Sensex fell to the day's low of 77,189.04 after closing at 77,860.19 in the previous session.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a negative start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,561 level, a discount of nearly 54 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.
