A dog owner whose XL bully attacked a police officer in Leicestershire has been jailed. The officer was inside a property in Lewis Close, Ibstock, for "less than a minute" when the dog got through a kitchen door,

An XL bully dog clamped its jaws onto a police officer’s leg, leaving him with serious injuries, dramatic bodycam footage from Leicestershire Police shows. Two officers attended an address wanting to speak to Aden Hollyoake on 26 October 2023.

A dog has been euthanised and its owner injured after they were attacked by an XL bully, according to police. It happened in Broadmead Avenue, Northampton, at about 19:20 GMT on New Year's Day. Police said the XL bully attacked a pomeranian and chihuahua cross-breed called Rex being walked by his owner.

A year since new laws restricted the keeping of Xl Bullies in Scotland, there are concerns that another breed is becoming the new “status dog”. The Cane Corso is an Italian breed of mastiff. Weighing up to 50kg, they can have a bite force of 700 psi – stronger than a lion’s, which is 600 psi.

The 51-year-old pleaded not guilty to having possession of or being in custody of a banned XL Bully at Dol Dalis in Lampeter on 29 June last year. Fox is due to stand trial on the charge at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on 1 May. He was remanded on unconditional bail until date.
