Dad of Robert Brooks, inmate beaten to death, goes to Albany to call for NY prison reforms
Brooks wasn’t able to join the “second-chance club,” as his father called it, after corrections officers violently beat him to death two months ago in a Central New York prison. On Thursday, Brooks' father, Robert Ricks, spoke at a joint state Assembly and Senate budget hearing held in the Legislative Office Building in Albany.
