A person got out of the car and officers perceived a deadly threat, so they fired their gun, CMPD told Channel 9.

An early morning traffic stop along South Boulevard turned into an officer-involved shooting when police “perceived an imminent deadly threat ,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say. The driver remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, CMPD said in a news release. The driver’s identity has not been released.

Officers are investigating the shooting at a gas station on South Boulevard, near East Arrowood Road. Eritrea is a northeast African country on the Red Sea coast. It shares borders with Ethiopia, Sudan and Djibouti.
