Trump announced in November that Ramaswamy and Elon Musk would co-lead DOGE’s effort to cut the federal budget and streamline government operations.

Despite the reports of his gubernatorial ambitions, multiple reports say Mr. Ramaswamy was driven out of DOGE by Mr. Musk. He “just burned through the bridges and he finally burned Elon,” a Republican strategist close to Trump advisers told Politico. “Everyone wants him out of Mar-a-Lago, out of D.C.”

Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur who sought the GOP nomination for president in 2024, has signaled plans to run for governor of Ohio next year. A native of Cincinnati, Ramaswamy, 39, had shown interest in Vice President J.D. Vance’s recently vacated Senate seat before Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine chose Lt. Gov. Jon Husted as Vance’s successor.
