A West Hempstead home was devasted by an early morning fire, leaving four people displaced. Officials responded to multiple calls on Woodlawn Road around 8:30 a.m. Four occupants self-evacuated.
A fire official said maintenance workers told him the fire began when they were soldering pipes and hit insulation.
