Calvin Jones, an Omaha Central grad and former Husker football standout, died Wednesday. The 54-year-old was found dead in his residence, officials confirmed to KETV NewsWatch 7. A close family friend told KETV that Jones was having problems with his furnace, his home was cold and had to use a generator.

Calvin Jones — a running back who dazzled Husker fans with his breakneck speed as part of Tom Osborne’s famous “we back” system in the early 1990s — died Wednesday. Omaha Police responded to a home near 38th and Franklin Street after firefighters reported an odor of carbon monoxide coming from the house.
