NEW YORK (AP) — A new toll on drivers entering the core of Manhattan brought modest but measurable traffic reductions to New York City’s heavily-gridlocked streets in its first week of operation, according to preliminary data released Monday by the state's transit authority.
It found that a majority of New Jersey voters polled, 57%, oppose New York City’s new congestion pricing toll, which charges $9 to vehicles entering Manhattan south of 60th Street. The poll showed 21% surveyed support it, and 22% were unsure. Only 6% of those polled strongly support congestion pricing.
