A Wisconsin teen set fire to a local Republican congressman’s office Sunday in a fit of rage over the TikTok ban, authorities say.

A young Menasha man who allegedly set a local congressman's office on fire after learning of a possible TikTok ban is facing a $500,000 cash bond.

A Menasha man accused of setting fire to an office space leased to U.S. Representative Glenn Grothman over the short-lived TikTok ban appeared in court on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Fond du Lac Fire Rescue put out a fire at a strip mall early Sunday morning that they say "appears to be suspicious in nature".

The man contended the shutdown violated his constitutional rights and no longer believes peaceful protest is an option.

FOND DU LAC (WLUK) -- The man accused of setting fire to a Northeast Wisconsin congressman's office over the short-lived TikTok ban appeared in court Wednesday. Caiden Stachowicz, 19, of Menasha, is charged with arson, attempted burglary, criminal damage to property and terrorist threats.

The forced social media break was short-lived, however, as TikTok access in the U.S. was reinstated a mere 12 hours later. Shortly after taking office Monday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order halting enforcement of the TikTok ban for 75 days.
