The Democratic-controlled Virginia Senate and House of Delegates have debated tax relief and other issues before passing separate proposals to amend the two-year state budget.

All three include millions for career training for the incarcerated. They also include more money for public defenders and state mental health facility employees.

As Virginia lawmakers continue discussions on budget amendments, both the house and senate have released their proposed amendments and they’re very different from amendments proposed by Governor Glenn Youngkin in December.
