Golden State has rotation players on expiring contracts, which Miami is reported to covet in any Butler trade, in Gary Payton II, Dennis Schroder and Kevon Looney. The Warriors also have their own first-round picks each year through 2031, though they will likely strive to protect those in any short-term deal.

Well, Butler has (reportedly) already put the kibosh on that conversation. According to ESPN' s Brian Windhorst, the 35-year-old has told the team that he wouldn't sign an extension there and therefore any trade talks have ended.

Butler, who has made it clear that he wants the Heat to trade him, is suspended by the Heat at least through Thursday’s trade deadline. But the Heat labeled this latest suspension as “indefinite” due “to a continued pattern of disregard of team rules, engaging in conduct detrimental to the team and intentionally withholding services.”

“The Grizzlies, for example, have held exploratory talks with Miami about Butler, but those interactions haven't gone far,” The Athletic reports. “According to league sources, the Heat asked about Memphis' young players, which the Grizzlies rebuffed.”
