Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, the ex-husband of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, has announced his decision to cut ties with his mother, businesswoman Zhang Lan, due to her actions following Hsu’s death.

Days after her untimely death, it seems the late Barbie Hsu's 'final wish' with regard to her former mother-in-law has been granted. Reports noted that Barbie's last post on Weibo, made last year on May 23,

It all started when Zhang Lan's godson, an influencer named Wo Shi Xia Xiao Jian, went on a Xiaohongshu live stream to claim that Xiaofei had paid for the private jet that flew Barbie's ashes back to Taiwan from Japan last Wednesday (Feb 5).

Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei has reportedly severed ties with his mother, restaurant entrepreneur Zhang Lan, for implicating him in controversies following the death of his ex-wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu. In a WeChat update on Feb 9, Wang, 43, posted a photo of his mother, saying he could no longer support her.

Chinese entrepreneur Zhang Lan, the mother of Barbie’s businessman ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei took to social media to post this statement: “Barbie’s passing is a loss to us all, and is an extremely hard blow to her kids. Our priority now is to comfort and protect the two children. That’s the duty and goals of both our families.”

The controversy emerged after a Chinese influencer known as "I am Xiao Xiao Jian," who reportedly has connections to Zhang, claimed during a livestream that Wang had paid for the private charter that transported the late actress's ashes from Japan to Taiwan.
