BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Gov. Kathy Hochul and the New York State Thruway Authority are warning New Yorkers of a recent E-ZPass text message scam that has been trying to collect tolls from recipients.
It asks users to click a link and provide personal information. The messages have been written a variety of ways, but all appear to be coming from a phone number outside the United States.
The text asks for a response to the message as well as personal information. The Thruway Authority said E-ZPass or Tolls by Mail does not send a text or email requesting personal information.
