While the tsunami warnings were issued for U.S. territories Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, there is no threat to the U.S. Atlantic or Gulf Coast.

A Tsunami Advisory was issued on Saturday evening following 7.6 magnitude earthquake, which occurred southwest of the Cayman Islands in the Northwest Pacific. The National Tsunami Warning Center said sea-level fluctuations and strong ocean currents were possible in the aftermath of the earthquake but the threat did not rise to a Tsunami Warning.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 has occurred 129 miles southwest of Georgetown, Cayman Islands, according to the USGS. The earthquake took place at 6.23 p.m. Eastern Time Saturday, the USGS reported.
