Launched by Elon Musk in February 2018, the Tesla Roadster was sent to space as part of the SpaceX project, carried aboard the Falcon Heavy rocket to test the launch.
According to SpaceX’s own calculation, the Roadster completed its first orbit around the Sun in August 2019 and made its first close approach to Mars on Oct. 7, 2020.
