Tunnel (CBBT) is closed after a crash early Wednesday morning.The single-vehicle crash happened on Two Island at Thimble Shoal Tunnel of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel around 1:45 a.m. The tractor-trailer caught on fire after crashing and spilling frozen chicken onto the roadway.

According to officials, around 1:45 a.m., a tractor-trailer carrying frozen chicken was traveling southbound on Two Island at the Thimble Shoal Tunnel of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel when it crashed. As a result of the crash, the tractor-trailer became fully engulfed in fire.

CBBT says around 1:45 a.m. a tractor trailer crashed on Two Island at the Thimble Shoal Tunnel before become engulfed in flames. The truck was reportedly transporting frozen chickens – which spilled into the roadway. Tunnel traffic was blocked in both directions as fire crews from Virginia Beach, Cape Charles and Cheriton responded.
