U.S. stocks were poised to open lower on Friday after closing near record highs yesterday following a promising wholesale inflation report and an executive order from President Trump that stopped short of imposing additional tariffs.

U.S. stock futures were shifting lower as the opening of markets neared. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 151 points, or 0.3%, to 44,661, S&P 500 futures fell 0.1% to 6,124.50 and Nasdaq-100 futures fell 0.

U.S. stocks rose in early trading on Thursday after data showed wholesale inflation slowed slightly in January, offering Wall Street a counterpoint to yesterday's hotter-than-expected consumer inflation print.
