The US Senate narrowly confirmed Kash Patel to lead the FBI, installing one of President Donald Trump’s fiercest loyalists to overhaul the nation’s top criminal investigative agency that he and other Republicans claim has been weaponized against conservatives.

Patel is set to lead an agency that's been a frequent target of Republicans, including an effort to abolish it altogether.

President Donald Trump will name newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel as the acting head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Saturday.
