North Carolina's coast was the "winner" for this winter storm, with parts of the Outer Banks getting 9 inches of snow.

A snowstorm is underway Tuesday night at the North Carolina Outer Banks with even Wilmington to see 5 inches of snow, officials said.

A winter storm watch could be issued Sunday for the North Carolina coast, including Wilmington areas, as the chances of snow Tuesday night increase, forecasters said.

Some DOT crew members view helping out in the East as returning a favor, as crews from Eastern Carolina helped WNC when Hurricane Helene hit.

While snowfall amounts were trending down in North Carolina, they have spiked up: ‘heavy snow possible’ at the Outer Banks with a half foot of snow forecast Tuesday night.
