Detectives investigating the theft of two dogs have made an arrest. A red mini poodle and a chocolate cockapoo were reported stolen in Halstead in November. Essex Police said a 39-year-old man from the town was arrested on suspicion of theft on Friday and taken into custody for questioning.

The dog was taken to a veterinary facility for emergency treatment and later died of its injuries, police said.

A man was arrested Thursday after tying a dog to the back of his truck, dragging it for one mile and leaving it for dead, according to the Tampa Police Department.
