What made you dislike Wesley Crusher? : r/startrek - Reddit
Wesley Crusher's biggest crime is that he's uninteresting. Even when the traveller stuff happened, it just confirmed Wesley was a special perfect boy all along and you were wrong if you disagreed, now he must fuck off to do things more important and special than you could ever imagine.
Now I understand why everyone hates Wesley Crusher : r/startrek
Mar 23, 2019 · Going through season 7 of TNG at the moment, and Wesley Crusher shows up again. I always thought people disliked him because he's the wonder boy and annoying at that. I actually didn't mind that much, his banter with Geordi and Data can be funny at times.

Yet here comes Wesley, who got a free pass to Acting Ensign without really earning it (you could even make a case that nepotism factored into the decision, since Picard had known Jack Crusher). In a way, Wesley undermined part of Roddenberry's own vision for the future.
Why all the Wesley Crusher hate? And other TNG questions.
Jul 8, 2019 · Wesley of course gets the most hate because the first season of TNG wasn't the best, plus he was a child genius (a trope many people hate), and you don't really get to see as much of him as an adult as you do with Jake and Nog in DS9. What's the reason for bringing back Dr. Crusher? Crusher was more popular with the rest of the cast.

So I like Wesley Crusher... : r/startrek - Reddit
Sep 27, 2020 · I always liked Wesley - I pretty much was Wesley Crusher as a child, except female, so like 10000x more awkward. His character arc was realistic as he basically went the "gifted kid burnout" route where he becomes increasingly disillusioned with society's arbitrary rules and totally fucked power structures and just nopes the heck out of it all.
Why exactly do people hate Wesley Crusher so much? : r/TNG
Feb 22, 2020 · Wesley is a kid who is supposed to be a genius, yet he lacks a lot of wiseness. Because the creators of the show wanted to have a character through which they could give "life lessons" to the kids watching at home, wesley lacks a lot of simple knowledge about the responsability of adulthood, of drugs, of command and so on.

Feb 14, 2021 · I like Wesley, but he is a bit of a Marty Stu, at least from the perspective that he is an author avatar (Wesley being Roddenberry's middle name) Wil Wheaton has complained that they didn't know how to write kids, although he speaks very fondly of his time, particularly the cast (and teaching Patrick to juggle)
“Shut up, Wesley!” did irreparable damage to Wesley Crusher’s …
Recap: during the climax, Acting Ensign Wesley Crusher is the only one to see through Lore’s subterfuge in impersonating Data. His attempts to warn senior staff are – bizarrely – rebuked repeatedly, culminating in an impatient “Shut up, Wesley!” from Captain Picard, which is later reinforced by Wesley's own mother. It’s a simple theory.
Unpopular opinion; I love Wesley Crusher. : r/startrek - Reddit
As the series has aged, I love the character of Wesley Crusher more because of how much I really do like Wil Wheaton and his work and public persona as an adult, he seems like a great guy. Also, Ready Room is a great companion show to all the new Trek.
